English | Bilingual (preferred) The L2 FA Engineer is responsible for performing second-level failure analysis, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of server boards, networking equipment, and related hardware. This position provides technical support for hardware failures, identifies recurring issues and reliability risks, and works with cross-functional teams to improve repair effectiveness and product quality. The L2 FA Engineer also supports the maintenance and operation of laboratory and key-component testing environments, ensuring equipment and test resources are available and properly maintained. The position requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, the ability to interpret board schematics, and the ability to work independently on complex hardware issues.
Key Responsibilities:
General Purpose Provide server board failure diagnosis, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and repair while supporting the maintenance and functionality of laboratory and key-component testing environments. The L2 FA Engineer will investigate hardware failures, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and provide technical support to ensure repair activities meet established quality, productivity, and turnaround-time requirements. Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair server boards, networking equipment, and related hardware.
  • Perform systematic failure analysis to identify hardware faults and root causes.
  • Analyze failed components and assemblies using appropriate diagnostic and testing methods.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, board layouts, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Determine appropriate repair actions based on failure symptoms, test results, and established procedures.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to appropriate engineering teams. Repair Operations
  • Perform board-level and system-level repair activities within established quality and turnaround-time targets.
  • Coordinate repair activities and support repair scheduling based on operational priorities.
  • Follow established repair procedures, work instructions, engineering specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Verify repaired equipment through appropriate testing before returning equipment to service.
  • Maintain accurate records of failure analysis, repair activities, test results, and disposition. Daily Execution & Operational Support
  • Support daily repair and failure-analysis targets in accordance with established support plans.
  • Monitor repair workload and communicate potential delays, resource constraints, or technical issues.
  • Follow up on daily targets, changing requirements, and operational priorities.
  • Provide timely technical support to production, testing, quality, and other affected teams.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding repair status, issues, and escalations.
Recurring Issue Identification & Root Cause Analysis Identify recurring hardware failures and abnormal failure trends. Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Test, and other cross-functional teams to resolve recurring issues. Track corrective actions through completion and verify effectiveness where applicable. Document lessons learned and technical findings for future troubleshooting and repair activities. Reliability & Risk Identification Identify potential reliability risks related to server boards, components, networking equipment, test equipment, and repair processes. Escalate reliability concerns and significant failure trends to appropriate engineering or management personnel. Support reliability investigations and engineering evaluations as required. Recommend improvements to reduce repeat failures, repair time, and equipment downtime. Laboratory & Test Environment Support Maintain laboratory equipment and key-component testing environments in a safe, organized, and operational condition. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory and test equipment. Support setup, verification, and maintenance of hardware testing environments. Ensure required test equipment, tools, and resources are available for assigned activities. Report equipment failures, calibration concerns, or environmental issues that may affect test accuracy or reliability. Procedures & Documentation Create, update, and maintain operational procedures, repair instructions, troubleshooting guides, and technical documentation. Document failure modes, troubleshooting steps, repair results, and corrective actions. Ensure documentation accurately reflects current processes and technical requirements. Support standardization of troubleshooting and repair practices. Technical Support Provide L2 technical support for hardware-related issues that cannot be resolved through standard troubleshooting. Assist production and technical teams with complex hardware failures. Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to technicians and other support personnel when appropriate. Support engineering projects, product changes, NPI activities, and other technical initiatives as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering , or a related technical field. Experience troubleshooting and repairing server, computer, networking, or electronic hardware. Experience with hardware failure analysis and root-cause troubleshooting. Experience working with Linux and Windows operating systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical/board schematics. Experience 1-3 years of experience in IT project coordination, systems integration, technical account management, solution delivery, or related IT project roles. Experience coordinating multiple technology projects simultaneously. Experience working with cross-functional business and technical teams. Manufacturing, warehouse, ERP, or supply chain systems experience is preferred. Experience supporting customer-facing technical implementations is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications Experience in server manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, hardware testing, or data-center equipment. Experience with server motherboard or printed circuit board (PCB) troubleshooting. Experience with networking equipment and related hardware. Experience using electronic test and diagnostic equipment. Experience with structured failure-analysis or root-cause-analysis methodologies. Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering laboratory, or repair environment. Project Management Skills Strong project planning and coordination abilities. Experience using project management software such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com, or similar tools. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities. Experience maintaining project schedules, status reports, risk logs, and issue trackers. Ability to facilitate meetings and drive action items to completion. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of server and networking hardware. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware failures systematically. Ability to perform maintenance and repair on server and network equipment. Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems. Solid understanding of network and data cabling. Ability to read and interpret board schematics and technical documentation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify failure patterns and recurring technical issues. Ability to perform root-cause analysis. Ability to work with test equipment and hardware diagnostic tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to document technical findings clearly and accurately. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment. Strong teamwork, integrity, dependability, and willingness to learn. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Scope Diagnose, troubleshoot, analyze, and repair server boards and networking equipment within established target times and support plans. Support L2-level hardware failure analysis and technical problem resolution. Support laboratory and key-component testing environments. Identify recurring failures and reliability risks and communicate findings to appropriate teams. Develop and maintain operational procedures and technical documentation. Provide technical support to production, testing, engineering, and other functional teams.
Supervision / Leadership
Works under limited supervision and is expected to independently manage assigned technical responsibilities. May provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to technicians or other team members. Demonstrates strong communication, integrity, teamwork, dependability, and willingness to learn. Escalates significant technical, quality, safety, or reliability concerns appropriately. May participate in cross-functional problem-solving and improvement activities.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be exposed to work requiring repetitive motion. The employee may work in an engineering laboratory, manufacturing, repair, or technical operations environment. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate. The employee may be required to work with electronic equipment, server hardware, networking equipment, laboratory equipment, and related tools while following applicable safety and operational procedures. .
