ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC
(Title 32) with the Texas Nional Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to: On a day-to-day basis, analyzes performance, tests, inspects, troubleshoots, identifies and isoles malfunctions, disassembles, modifies or repairs and reassembles test stions or ECM Pods and their associed peripherals. Considers the complex interreled variables arising from a mix of computer hardware and software, stimulus and measurement systems, and special purpose test subsystems. Analyzes malfunctions using schemics, logic and wiring diagrams, programming tables, computer program flow charts, software user guides, computer program listings and factory drawings. Diagnoses circuit opering characteristics using computer query, system peculiar test equipment, and computer diagnostics. Isoles problems to the failing part using self-test diagnostics, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, signal generors, digital, and differential voltmeters, computer registers and printouts and other special and standard tools and test equipment. Removes and replaces components, assemblies, subassemblies, or parts using special and common hand tools, soldering devices and special electronic instruments. May modify and updes avionics Pods, support equipment and support software according to applicable technical publicions. Analyzes program da and determines if the criteria is sufficient to provide adeque testing and troubleshooting. Examines recurring malfunctions and software deficiencies to determine testing voids and inities corrective action by submission of quality deficiency reports, software deficiency reports or proposed modificions. Devises repair procedures based on findings and recommends program changes, procedural changes, or da corrections to correct software deficiencies. Recommends revisions to intermedie maintenance directives. Connects associed testing equipment to interface the test stion system to the aircraft system and or Pod to facilite maintenance/repair of POD or line replaceable units (LRUs) from the avionics systems such as radar, fire control, instrument, flight control, inertial navigion, malfunction analysis and recording equipment systems. Determines whether failures are caused by the unit under test (UUT), the Pod, the test stion, or the test program. If the malfunction is found to be in the UUT, Pod or the test stion, isoles it to the specific component(s), disassembles and effects repair by replacing solid ste devices, micro miniure modules, gyros, sensors, transducers, and any other required parts, and assembles after repair is accomplished and performs operional tests. If the malfunction is in the test program, informs engineers and/or Air Force Logistics Command (AFLC) of the problem and serves as subject mter expert in providing practical technical assistance in resolution. Ensures compibility of items with each other and with extenders and interfaces. Works with engineers and technicians in the development and/or modificion of software, interfaces, extender equipment or additional items of test equipment and in validion of technical da concerning the repair, maintenance, and test of the test stion and units under test. Inities technical da changes. Suggests means by which a component or system can be tested more economically or thoroughly and provides practical technical assistance by explaining peculiarities of the program or assemblies of the test stion, UUT, interfaces, extenders, test procedures, etc. Provides hands-on training instructions to lower grade personnel concerned with repair of computer controlled automic test equipment, manually controlled test equipment, line replaceable units and aircraft integred systems. Also provides on-the-job instruction to newly assigned personnel, regardless of grade level. Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions such as Operional Readiness Inspections (ORI), Inspector General (IG) inspections, and Unit Effectiveness Inspections and mobility and command support exercises. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operor, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a team member on a board to cope with nural disasters or civil emergencies. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulions. Ensures th merial and equipment are properly stored, protected and maintained. Performs other duties as assigned. Applies comprehensive knowledge of all major units of the complete multisystem, i.e., how they function independently, how they are interfaced in the integred subsystems, and how the subsystems interact to achieve opering specificions. Able to determine proper sequence of operions and start point in sequential operions in order to pinpoint areas of malfunction. Extensive practical knowledge of the theories and practices of electromagnetic propagion, electronic circuits, computer theory, hydraulic or pneumic control and power systems, and many other areas covering a wide range of system applicions. Broad knowledge of the interactions among a number of closely integred complex systems. Knowledge of mhemics, including trigonometry, to calcule power relion ships, signal phasing, etc. Ability to interpret drawings for multisystem complexes such as the complete electronics package for an aircraft including numerous interconnections of signal phs both between and within individual subsystems of the multisystem complex. Ability to isole malfunctions of complete multiple integred systems consisting of closely interreled fire control, bombing-navigion, flight control, countermeasures or similar systems and to determine the methods of repair where extremely complex relionships exist among numerous interconnected units and control circuits not only within the individual control systems but between them as well, requiring complete knowledge of all electronic, mechanical, and or optical systems and units. Performs on-equipment or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integred systems associed with the assigned aircraft, and/or maintenance on automic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigion systems.
