The Automation Technician I supports the installation and preventative maintenance of industrial control and automation systems. Performs basic wiring, inspections, panel preparation, equipment cleaning, and troubleshooting under supervision while assisting senior personnel and following safety and quality standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Performing basic preventative maintenance on control panels, PLC cabinets, sensors, and field wiring Assisting with installation of automation components, instrumentation, and control hardware Supporting cable routing, conduit work, terminations, labeling, and panel preparation Conducting equipment cleaning, visual inspections, and basic documentation updates Learning to use diagnostic tools, test meters, and basic troubleshooting techniques Assisting in resolving simple wiring or component issues under direction Completing service reports and maintaining accurate work documentation Following all safety procedures and company standards
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ability to assist senior personnel and perform routine duties under close supervision Willingness to learn diagnostic tools, test meters, and basic troubleshooting techniques Basic understanding of control panels, PLC cabinets, sensors, and field wiring (or willingness to learn) Ability to support installation activities including cable routing, conduit work, and terminations Strong attention to detail for documentation, labeling, and reporting Ability to follow safety procedures and company standards at all times Commitment to foundational skill development and progression to higher-level automation responsibilities
