The position for an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician is located between San Angelo and Midland, near Sterling City, TX (within 60 miles of worksite preferred). - Accountability Location Sterling City Area Instrumentation and Electrical Technician The I&E Technician plays a crucial role in the oil and gas industry in maintaining and optimizing electrical systems.
Instrumentation and Electrical Technician Job Duties:
Maintain and Repair Electrical Control Systems:
Maintain and repair electrical control systems specifically for oil and gas production. Must understand the unique requirements of these systems and ensure their efficiency and safety.Documentation and Schematics:
Produce necessary documents, drawings, and schematics related to the electrical systems. Ensure guidelines for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting are met.Routine Reports and Correspondence:
Draft routine reports and correspondence related to electrical work. Effective communication is essential for coordinating tasks and addressing any issues promptly.Safety Procedures:
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during measurement activities, including using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).Onsite Instillation:
Install electrical equipment directly at the job site. Ensure connections and configuration of various components are properly functioning. Experience withHighline Maintenance and Repair Inspection and Troubleshooting:
Conduct daily inspections on all electrical systems, identifying potential issues, recommending upgrades and repairs, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.Calibration and Modification:
Calibrate and modify electrical systems according to site-specific needs. May need to adjust settings or parameters to optimize performance.Technical Support:
Provide electrical technical support across different production sites. Collaborate with other team members to address any electrical-related challenges including relay timer and motor wiringParts Inventory:
Maintain an adequate supply of parts for emergency repairs. Ensure necessary components are readily available to ensure timely fixes.Required Skills/Abilities:
In-depth knowledge of measurement equipment, data analysis techniques, and electrical regulations. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Knowledge of relevant E&P, operations, procedures, and practices is a plus.Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in measurement technology is a plus. Proven experience as an Oil and Gas Electrical-Lead Technician or in a related role.Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Must be able to safely climb ladders, stairs, and other structures, and work at elevated heights for extended periods. Comfortable working in outdoor field conditions, including elevated platforms, uneven terrain, and varying weather conditions.
