An Instrumentation Technician carries out planned or unplanned maintenance and repair activities on a wide range of electronic equipment and process control and safety systems.
10-hour shifts; 5x2 schedule with the possibility of an 8x6 rotation Position Summary The I&E Technician is responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation, electrical controls, PLCs, measurement equipment, and associated SCADA systems supporting oil and gas production operations. This position works closely with Production Operations personnel to troubleshoot field issues, support projects, maintain reliable operations, and ensure accurate measurement and control of wells and associated facilities. A strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental protection, operational efficiency, and asset integrity is essential. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Conduct all work safely and promote safety and environmental responsibility throughout field operations. Install, maintain, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, SCADA systems, measurement equipment, instrumentation, and electrical control systems. Use Cygnet SCADA to identify and troubleshoot SCADA, instrumentation, and equipment issues. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment including PLCs, HMI screens, ROC 107/800 and Totalflow RTUs, tank sensors, wired and wireless pressure transmitters, burner management systems, solar panels, regulators, Coriolis meters, IDP controllers, turbine meters, pneumatic safety systems, automated gas lift control valves, automated control valves, pressure switches, and related equipment. Perform end-device testing for pressure, level, and facility shutdown systems. Review the work order system daily and complete assigned I&E-related work. Perform equipment repairs and maintenance within the scope of the position and coordinate additional support when needed. Understand variables affecting field production volumes and apply appropriate industry standards and practices. Support construction, commissioning, and workover activities within the assigned area. Work with the supervisor to maintain asset integrity, control costs, and monitor Lease Operating Expenses (LOE). Verify field tickets and invoices for accuracy prior to approval. Communicate regularly with the supervisor regarding HSER, technical issues, field conditions, and daily activities. Maintain assigned company vehicle in clean and safe working condition. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager. Qualifications & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of I&E, measurement, and PLC programming experience in oil, gas, and water applications. Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, RTUs, instrumentation, measurement equipment, and field controls. Basic electrical wiring and equipment installation skills. Ability to read and understand technical documentation, operating instructions, diagrams, and equipment specifications. Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Environmental & Physical Requirements This position is primarily field-based and requires working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work may involve exposure to moving vehicles and machinery, electrical and radiant energy, noise, fumes, gases, grease, dust, oils, solvents, and other conditions common to oil and gas production facilities. The position may require working independently or with others, working extended or irregular hours, and traveling to field locations. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, sit, kneel, stoop, crawl, bend, twist, push, pull, grasp, reach overhead, and repeatedly climb stairs and ladders. The employee must be able to lift and carry 70 lbs. or more, distinguish colors, perceive depth, operate motor vehicles and equipment, and safely perform assigned field duties. Equipment used may include computers, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand tools, power tools, air tools, telephones, motor vehicles, and other field equipment. Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hard hats, reinforced-toe footwear, coveralls, gloves, and hearing protection. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Compensation & Schedule Hourly Rate:
$28.00-$40.00, based on experience
