This role involves assessing and repairing structural damage, applying gelcoat finishes, and ensuring vessels are both functional and visually appealing. The technician works with a variety of tools and materials to fix cracks, holes, and surface imperfections caused by impacts, wear, or environmental exposure. A strong understanding of fiberglass construction, gelcoat application, and marine repair techniques is critical, along with precision and attention to detail. This position supports the broader service team by restoring boats to a seaworthy and polished condition, enhancing customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections of fiberglass components to identify damage or deterioration. Perform repairs using appropriate techniques such as patching, sanding, gel coating, and reinforcement to restore structural integrity. Interpret schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals to guide repair procedures accurately. Utilize diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters to troubleshoot electrical issues related to fiberglass structures or embedded systems. Apply mechanical knowledge and heavy equipment mechanics expertise to support related maintenance tasks on equipment involved in fiberglass repair processes. Follow safety protocols diligently during all repair activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Maintain detailed records of repairs performed, materials used, and inspection results for quality assurance and future reference. Qualifications Proven experience in fiberglass repair or related fields such as marine, automotive, or aerospace industries. Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in heavy equipment mechanics and maintenance operations (MRO). Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and electrical diagrams accurately. Proficiency with diagnostic tools including ohmmeters and other electrical testing devices. Experience with electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting embedded electrical systems within fiberglass structures is highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to repairs and maintenance tasks. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and document work clearly.
