Job Description
Overview We are seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Technician to support and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment within a fast-paced industrial environment. This individual will be responsible for maintaining PLC-controlled systems, robotics, HMIs, drives, sensors, and electrical equipment to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency. This role is ideal for someone with strong electrical and controls troubleshooting experience who enjoys working hands-on with automation systems and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls-related issues Support Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms Troubleshoot HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, sensors, motors, and industrial networks Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automated equipment Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, P&IDs, and technical drawings Assist with machine startups, installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams to improve uptime and reliability Support robotics systems such as Fanuc, ABB, or KUKA when applicable Document repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment modifications within CMMS systems Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards Qualifications 3+ years of industrial automation, controls, or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment Strong troubleshooting experience with PLCs and automated machinery Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Siemens Step 7, or TIA Portal preferred Experience troubleshooting HMIs, VFDs, servo motors, and industrial communication systems Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and ladder logic Familiarity with robotics, conveyors, packaging equipment, or CNC machinery is a plus Experience using CMMS or maintenance tracking software preferred Associate degree or technical certification in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred Strong communication and teamwork skills Preferred Experience SCADA systems such as Ignition, FactoryTalk, or Wonderware Industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, DeviceNet, etc.) Robotics troubleshooting and programming Continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing environments Food & beverage, automotive, packaging, or high-speed manufacturing experience Benefits Competitive compensation Overtime opportunities Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match PTO and paid holidays Career advancement opportunities Stable and growing manufacturing environment You should be proficient in: PLC Troubleshooting Skills Electrical Troubleshooting PLC Programming Experience Electrical Schematic Reading
