POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Equipment Repair Technician to join our team at the Fleet Service Garage. You will remove and inventory equipment from vehicles that are wrecked, disabled, or at the end of their service life, ensuring materials are properly accounted for and repurposed when possible. The ideal candidate has mechanical or automotive repair experience, can safely use hand tools, and is comfortable following written and verbal instructions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions: Remove equipment from wrecked, disabled, or end-of-service-life vehicles Inventory and maintain accurate counts of removed equipment Safely use woodworking and mechanical hand tools (wrenches, air impacts, drills, saws) Read and follow manuals, instructions, and other written documentation Follow verbal and written directions from supervisors
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required Mechanical or automotive repair experience preferred Knowledge of 12-volt systems preferred Valid Virginia driver's license preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to safely operate hand tools and follow safety protocols Ability to read and comprehend repair and installation manuals Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and listening) Ability to work collaboratively and provide high-quality customer service Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action Ability to prioritize tasks and follow established procedures
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds as needed Must be able to safely use woodworking and mechanical hand tools
Work Schedule:
