You coordinate safe lockout/tagout, trace the issue through the HMI, adjust logic, and bring the equipment back online—safely and swiftly. If guiding teams through moments like this energizes you, you'll thrive here. Your mission Own electrical automation and mechanical reliability across a 24/7 operation. Elevate safety, modernize controls, and coach a skilled team to deliver sustained performance. Core responsibilities Instill an uncompromising safety culture: uphold NEC, OSHA, LOTO, high‑voltage, BRC food safety, GMP, and product quality standards; lead regular safety meetings, inspections, and hazard assessments. Direct, mentor, and develop Electricians, Mechanics, and Electro‑Mechanical Technicians. Design and run preventative/predictive maintenance to reduce downtime and increase equipment life. Hands‑on troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electrical, and control systems on high‑speed production/steel‑forming equipment. Provide 24/7 leadership and technical response during failures, startups, shutdowns, and emergencies. Deliver PLC/HMI programming and process control expertise; execute upgrades from Allen‑Bradley PLC‑5 to ControlLogix and fine‑tune automation for peak performance. Partner with operations to lift reliability and throughput; measure and report KPIs for electrical and maintenance performance. Plan and commission mechanical, electrical, and automation projects from concept through completion. Review electrical schematics, blueprints, and specifications to ensure code compliance and reliability. Coordinate external contractors and vendors for capital projects and upgrades.
