Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in field service, low voltage, and telecommunications, with a strong understanding of premise installation and troubleshooting.
- Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic networks
- Run airel service lines from facilities on pole to customers premise
- Pull underground service lines from underground facilities to customer premise
- Perform fiber splicing and terminations
- Conduct network installations and upgrades
- Utilize hand tools for fiber optic and network equipment installations
- Provide support for telecommunication systems
- Ensure quality control of all fiber optic connections
- Qualifications
- Proficiency in fiber splicing techniques
- Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems
- Experience with mechanical work and hand tools
- Familiarity with network installation and troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Job Summary:
Fiber Technician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, terminating, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables in order to provide quality service for customers, using specialized tools and test equipment.Qualification Requirements:
a.Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent education b.Experience Level:
One year of relevant experience required. Installation experience desirable. c.Special Requirements:
i. Ability to work aloft up to 32' on a ladder. ii. Ability to work in confined spaces (manholes, vaults, etc.) iii. Ability to distinguish between different tones. iv. Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather. v. Able and willing to be on call 24 hours a day for emergency repair. vi. Ability to work independently and deal tactfully and effectively with the public and staff. vii. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transport up to 200 feet. viii. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds. ix.Licenses or Certifications:
Valid driver's license required. d.Skills Summary:
