JOB SUMMARY
Marport Americas is looking for a motivated and eager Technician to provide hands-on technical support in marine electronics. The Technician will assist in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment used in commercial fishing vessels. This position will involve working directly with customers, providing in-house support, and ensuring the optimal performance of all equipment.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of marine electronics and systems on commercial fishing vessels. Conduct in-house technical support via phone, email, or remote access tools. Assist with the repair and maintenance of marine electronics, including sensors and related equipment. Test and verify systems to ensure proper functionality and operational standards. Collaborate with the sales and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve product-related issues. Perform routine diagnostics, including testing electronic components and systems. Assist in updating and maintaining technical documentation and manuals. Support in configuring and testing new equipment and devices. Maintain an organized and efficient work environment, ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly handled and stored. Follow proper safety protocols and work in accordance with safety standards. Be willing to travel as needed for on-site technical support or training (if applicable).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

AND EXPERIENCE
0-2 years of experience in a technical support or technician role, ideally within marine electronics or a related industry. Trade or Technical School diploma preferred, or relevant technical experience.
BASIC SKILLS
Strong technical aptitude with a willingness to learn and grow within the marine electronics field. Good communication skills and the ability to work well with customers and team members. Pleasant demeanor with an eagerness to assist others and provide exceptional support. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Willingness to travel as needed for work assignments. Looking for long-term employment with opportunities for growth.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Basic understanding of electronics, including troubleshooting and repair. Comfortable working with computers and software for diagnostics, configuration, and testing. Ability to read and interpret basic schematics and technical drawings. Familiarity with basic tools and test equipment, such as volt meters or oscilloscopes, is a plus. Knowledge of safety procedures and the proper use of safety equipment.
