Job Description

Automation Technician
RESPONSIBILITIES
Active team member in the internal or external design and fabrication of molding and secondary equipment, robotics, End of Arms Tooling, work cells and automated assembly equipment. Design circuitry, program and monitor PLC's and other peripheral equipment. Involvement in equipment installation, start-up and training. Support the maintenance team in the following aspects - robotics and automation equipment. Primary internal contact for the maintenance team on technically difficult issues with automation. Assist in root cause analysis, corrective maintenance, breakdowns, quality related issues involving equipment and work with the maintenance team to identify preventative measures. Provide service to the customer that includes prompt repair and maintenance on equipment and proactive communication on the status of open service requests and corrective maintenance. Continuously improve equipment and automation to reduce labor, overtime, waste and increase efficiencies in equipment and process operations. Observes mechanical devices in operation and diagnosis of malfunctions. Makes approved modifications to machinery and equipment to meet production needs. Repairs and replaces defective parts. Starts equipment to test their performance. Set up shop tools and equipment. Keeps accurate maintenance records and insures that all revisions to equipment and tools are properly documented. Support and comply with all

13485, and
ISO 14000
Policies, Procedures, SOP's, Work Instructions as they apply to the job classification or specifically assigned job and complete as directed all required training related to these standards. Adheres to all safety procedures. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Keeps work area clean of debris. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree in electro-mechanical technology; or equivalent mix of education and experience. Minimum of two years experience in PLC's and robotic programming, systems integration and troubleshooting. Experience interfacing automation and robotics with various types of equipment. Experience with End of Arm Tooling fabrication and design including jigs and fixtures. CAD software experience preferred. Two years experience in preventative maintenance preferred. Minimum of one year experience in injection molding. Strong computer skills. Strong technical documentation on writing and training experience. Working knowledge of hydraulics, blueprints, and schematics. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Understand and have a working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout and machine guarding requirements.
