Full-time Summary:
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager; the Engineering Technician is responsible for assisting in design work, planning, organizing and the successful completion and installation of related components on new products. Projects are performed with supporting service for a variety of engineering disciplines. Critical decisions relative to planning and organizing of projects, basic technical approaches, and concepts are made with the assistance of the Senior Engineering Technicians and the Engineering Manager. This position is expected to contribute sound, original engineering judgments, and make recommendations. Requires degree in electrical engineering or previous marine design development experience.
  • Analyzing plans and blueprints: Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, and specifications
  • Building and repairing equipment: Building, calibrating, and repairing instruments, machines, and testing equipment
  • Identifying solutions: Identifying solutions to design problems
  • Preparing reports: Preparing reports, drawings, and calculations
  • Establishing structural integrity: Establishing structural integrity of boats while they're being built
  • Assist in the development and building of various systems for new products
  • Create technical drawings and databases
  • Expedites all work on projects by working in conjunction with systems, design, prototype and manufacturing groups
  • Assists in the preparation of project plans, including a statement of objectives and approaches a breakdown of tasks and stages
  • A detail project cost estimate, and a detail schedule plan for supervisory review and approval
  • Responsible for component specifications
  • Investigate vendor sources for new products, as well as replacement goods and services
  • Work with other departments to implement cost reductions, product improvements and modifications as well as investigate production related problems
  • Maintains records pertaining to projects, including sketches, drawings, notebooks, memos, reports, test data, bills of materials, cutting list, charts, cost breakdowns, and etc
  • Prepares progress, status, technical and other reports as required or requested, covering personal activities or overall efforts on projects for which responsibility is held
  • Assists with the building, testing and evaluation of prototypes after completion and reports any unsatisfactory results and ensures changes are implemented prior to production start-up
  • Ensure component and system compliance with industry standards or acquire through certification or testing
  • Develop good working relationships with design group, prototype, and production
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities :
  • Understands and maintains Cruiser's safety and housekeeping standards
  • Understands and maintains Cruiser's quality standards and applies proper procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Strong technical background

Education and Experience :
  • Associates degree in an electrical engineering related field preferred
  • AutoCAD skills required
  • Marine design experience a plus
Physical Requirements :
(May be repetitive in nature)
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds at times, and have the physical ability to meet strength and movement requirements for the position
  • Wear required PPE and work in a dusty environment
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods, crawl, walk, carry, squat, kneel, bend or stoop, walk on uneven surfaces, climb, twist at the waist, and reach at or above or below the shoulders
  • Lifting (up to 60lbs) and push or pull (up to 60lbs)
  • Fine manipulation of one or both hands and be able to grasp with one or both hands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to work in elevated positions and in small spaces
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear (eye and ear protection)
