What to Expect Designing and building factory infrastructure at record speed is key to enabling Tesla to scale. We are looking for a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead a small electrical design team supporting vehicle and factory programs across ourLathropandFremontsites. As part of the EPC Infrastructure Design Engineering group, you will bring deep electrical engineeringexpertiseand combine it withpeopleleadership, balancing technical judgment with prioritization, resource planning, and cross-functional coordination. You will remain hands-on on complex scopes while coaching a small team through concept design, detailed engineering,permitpackages, and construction support.



Regular travel between Fremont and Lathrop isrequired. What You'll Do

Lead a small electrical engineering team through planning, prioritization, people and resource management, and delivery across active factory programs at Fremont and Lathrop

Own electrical design quality from concept through IFB/IFP/IFC and construction administration, partnering with Engineers of Record as applicable

Drive electrical scope for power distribution, lighting, grounding, life safety power, and related factory electrical systems

Lead power systems studies and arc flash analysis, including protective device coordination and arc flash protection labeling

Establishand maintain peer and interdisciplinary design review practices with CSA, MEP, manufacturing, and construction partners

Translate stakeholder requirements into constructible deliverables; control scope, technical planning, and change management in a fast-paced environment

Coordinate with Project Controls, Construction, and AHJs so packages support procurement, permitting, and construction readiness; support RFIs, field coordination, and design guidance at both sites

Mentor engineers, support career growth, and foster clear ownership and constructive review

Identifyrisks and design deficiencies early; escalate tradeoffs and partner on sequencing and solutions

Continually improve electrical standards, workflows, and handoffs so designs are consistent, safe, and constructible What You'll Bring

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience;Professional Engineer (PE)required

8+ years of electrical design experience on large commercial, industrial, or manufacturing facilities, including leading or coordinating a small multi-engineer team

Strong technical depth in factory/building electrical systems (MV/LV distribution, one-lines, panel schedules, lighting, grounding, code compliance)

Hands-on experience with power systems studies, short-circuit and coordination analysis, arc flash assessment, and arc flash protection labeling

Experience delivering design packages through construction for complex infrastructure or manufacturing projects, including AHJ coordination and permitting

Proven collaboration across Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, and Construction stakeholders

Ability to adapt, multi-task, and prioritize under tight timelines with evolving requirements; hands-on on technical issues while leading delivery

Excellent written and verbal communication; clear risk and status communication to technical and non-technical audiences

Willingness to travel regularly between Fremont and Lathrop and work extended hours as project needs require

Proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam; familiarity with power system analysis tools (e.g., SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower) and A/E collaboration tools

Expected Compensation

$156,000 - $276,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
