We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Facilities Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team. The engineering organization provides services in engineering, operations, planning, and project execution. This position supports a National Laboratory in a fast-paced environment that requires comfort with ambiguity, changing assignments, and complex problem-solving.
The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded electrical engineering professional capable of solving problems across a variety of engineering and facilities settings.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and/or contribute to project studies, plans, schedules, and cost estimates.
Lead or participate in multi-disciplinary engineering teams to perform engineering calculations, develop construction drawings, and prepare construction specifications.
Ensure designs meet customer requirements, applicable building codes, environmental regulations, safety regulations, and corporate standards.
Review engineering plans for constructability, completeness, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Manage construction progress in accordance with design requirements, applicable codes, customer needs, and site standards.
Coordinate with internal teams, external organizations, contractors, and other resources to ensure construction work is completed according to scope, schedule, design requirements, and site standards.
Assess electrical building systems, utility systems, and site electrical infrastructure to identify issues and develop potential solutions.
Provide recommendations and technical direction for facility operations, energy efficiency, conservation, and system optimization.
Enhance preventive maintenance procedures and perform electrical systems asset management surveys.
Serve as the electrical systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) and single point of contact, providing technical direction to engineering, operations, planning, and project execution teams.
Work onsite the majority of the time.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
Strong knowledge and understanding of current National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
Knowledge of NFPA 70E and electrical safety requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with electrical design for building systems, site electrical distribution, lighting, and specialized electrical systems.
Experience with modification and sustainment of existing facilities.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Detailed knowledge of the electrical industry and experience developing specifications for construction/bid purposes.
Strong ability to think critically and make decisions requiring engineering judgment.
Knowledge and experience with International Building Codes (IBC).PMP certification or demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept through design and construction.
Experience working effectively with internal and external customers at all organizational levels.
Demonstrated leadership, planning, organization, and team management skills.
Experience with sustainable design.
Knowledge of facilities design, construction, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) best practices and standards.
Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting/design software.
