We have an immediate opening for a full-time, on-site (in Monrovia, CA) Senior Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience architecting and performing detailed design for high-speed digital and analog electronics. This person will be an individual contributor responsible for digital and analog electronics architecture and design for SiLC's lidar products. The ideal candidate has experience designing complex high-speed digital and analog boards, strong Altium expertise, and hands-on bring-up skills. This role involves close daily collaboration with firmware and mechanical engineers. The candidate should have strong communication skills and be able to own all aspects of the product life cycle from prototype to production.
Responsibilities:
Define system-level digital and analog architecture and perform full schematic capture and board layout in Altium Designer. Board level design of digital and analog electronics for the full lidar system. Design boards to meet CE emissions, immunity, and electrical safety requirements, incorporating pre-compliance considerations into layout and stack-up. In collaboration with mechanical engineering, design grounding and shielding for analog interference immunity and CE compliance. Lead board bring-up, debug, and validation using oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, logic analyzers, and power supplies, collaborating with firmware engineers on FPGA/processor validation. Coordinate board outline and mechanical footprint with mechanical engineering, exporting Altium outlines for SolidWorks integration. Support the full product lifecycle — R D prototyping, detailed design, pilot builds, NPI, and production — including BOM/ECO management and design reviews/CCBs.
Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, with 5+ years of relevant industry experience. Expert-level proficiency with Altium Designer, including schematic capture and complex multi-domain board layout. Demonstrated experience designing high-speed (>1 GHz) digital boards with FPGAs, microprocessors, multiple power domains, ethernet, and analog components including signal integrity considerations. Working knowledge of CE compliance design practices (EMI/EMC, electrical safety), with pre-compliance testing experience. Hands-on experience with standard electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, logic analyzers, and power supplies). Experience coordinating board outlines and thermal/heat management with mechanical engineering. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across firmware and mechanical teams.
Bonus Skills:
Experience with Verilog (preferred) or VHDL. Experience with photonics or optical front-end circuitry (laser drivers, TIAs, APD/PIN receivers).
Compensation Base salary:
$140,000 - $170,000 based on experience level and qualifications Stock options Other benefits include health/vision/dental insurance, 401(k), etc.
