Full Job Description The Opportunity :
The Manufacturing Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, integration, testing, manufacturing transfer, and sustaining support of electrical and electronic hardware for complex Class II Medical Laser Systems. This hands-on engineering role combines electrical/hardware expertise with software and firmware experience to support new product development, manufacturing, production troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and product sustaining activities. The Engineer works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Operations to ensure products are manufacturable, reliable, compliant, and efficiently supported throughout the product lifecycle.What You'll Do :
Design, develop, integrate, test, and troubleshoot analog and digital electrical systems for complex electro-opto-mechanical medical devices. Develop and maintain electrical schematics, PCBAs, component specifications, bills of materials, and engineering documentation. Perform circuit analysis, component selection, hardware integration, and root cause analysis of electrical and mixed-signal systems. Provide hands-on engineering support to Manufacturing, including troubleshooting production issues, improving yields, and resolving recurring defects. Develop and maintain manufacturing assembly, inspection, troubleshooting, and PCBA/system-level test procedures. Support new product introduction, prototype builds, design transfer, production release, and sustaining engineering activities. Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost. Develop, modify, and debug embedded software/firmware and manufacturing test applications using C/C++, Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools. Develop scripts, diagnostic tools, test fixtures, and automated test solutions to support engineering and manufacturing. Initiate and execute engineering changes through the ECO/ECN process. Participate in verification and validation, electrical safety, EMC/EMI qualification, FMEA, risk management, and other quality/regulatory activities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership in electrical hardware and hardware/software integration. Contribute to continuous improvement and intellectual property activities as appropriate.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in electrical, electronic, hardware, manufacturing, or systems engineering; medical device experience preferred. Demonstrated experience designing, developing, troubleshooting, and supporting electrical/electronic hardware. Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, embedded systems, and hardware/software interfaces. Hands-on experience with PCB design tools such as Altium, Cadence, Mentor Graphics, or equivalent. Experience supporting manufacturing, production troubleshooting, NPI, design transfer, and/or sustaining engineering. Experience withDFMA, ECO/ECN
processes, engineering documentation, and root cause analysis. Software/firmware development or debugging experience using C/C++, Python, LabVIEW, or similar programming languages. Experience developing or supporting manufacturing test systems, fixtures, diagnostic tools, or automated testing is preferred. Knowledge of electrical safety, EMC/EMI, FMEA, risk management, GMP, and applicable medical device quality standards is preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
