Testing is an important function that allows Otis to qualify components and systems to customer requirements. Otis Test Engineering in Bristol, CT is looking for an Electrical Engineer Summer Intern for May/June 2027 to work with the Test Engineering department to support a variety of component and system level testing including the design and development of test rigs. Specific project(s) to be determined closer to summer 2027. Over the ten weeks you will be exposed to hoistway testing in our 28-story Bristol Test Tower and to environmental and component level qualification tests in Quality Assurance Center. You will be required to work closely with technicians, test engineers, and electrical engineers from our design center in Farmington as well as other global offices. We are seeking a dynamic individual that likes to work on multiple projects and enjoys getting involved in solving problems, identify areas for improvement and taking initiative to come up with solutions. You may be involved in root cause analysis of field related issues, replicating failure modes in the lab, addressing problems with test rigs/hoistways or designing new fixtures/tests. Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.Requirements:
Basic understanding of electrical measurements and test methods. Familiarity with common laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies. Exposure to scripting or automation tools such as Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar is preferred Experience with data analysis and report generation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. What You Will Gain Practical experience in electrical hardware testing and validation. Exposure to product development processes within a global engineering organization. Experience working with industry-standard laboratory equipment and test methodologies. Opportunities to contribute to real-world elevator control, drive, communication, or electrical system development projects. Mentorship from experienced test and electrical engineers and technicians. The hourly range for this role is $25/hr to $30/hr. We may pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may change in the future. Pay within the salary range will be based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
