This is a long-term career opportunity for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects and working on a diverse mix of government, institutional, commercial, and industrial facilities . The ideal candidate will have experience throughout the full design process and be comfortable developing electrical systems from initial planning and calculations through construction documents and follow-on construction services. Responsibilities Design electrical systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and government facilities Develop power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage/communications systems Participate in all phases of project design and development Prepare electrical plans, specifications, calculations, technical reports, and cost estimates Produce coordinated construction documents Perform electrical load calculations and system design Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural, and other engineering disciplines Provide construction-phase and follow-on engineering services Review project requirements and develop practical, code-compliant design solutions Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, consultants, and other members of the design team Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline Professional experience designing electrical systems for buildings and facilities Experience with power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage/communications systems Experience preparing construction drawings, specifications, calculations, estimates, and reports Broad understanding of the planning and design process for building projects Government, institutional, commercial, or industrial project experience preferred Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple project responsibilities and deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Client-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working as part of a multi-disciplinary team U.S. citizenship is required due to the secure nature of certain government projects What We're Looking For We are looking for a pragmatic, motivated, and results-oriented engineer who wants more than just another design position.
