Northern Idaho, USA Full-Time | Permanent | Mining Join a Major Underground Mining Operation An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Engineer to join a long-established underground mining operation in Northern Idaho. This is an opportunity to become a key technical resource within a producing mine, working closely with maintenance, operations and engineering teams to improve the reliability, availability and performance of critical electrical infrastructure. The operation offers the chance to work across a technically challenging mining environment, with exposure to underground mining, mineral processing, power distribution, instrumentation, capital projects and equipment reliability . The Opportunity As Electrical Engineer, you will provide day-to-day technical and strategic engineering support across the mine's electrical assets. You will work closely with maintenance and operations teams to identify equipment failure causes, develop engineering solutions and implement improvements that increase reliability, maintainability and availability . The position will also play an important role in capital projects , from design and equipment specification through to construction, commissioning and handover. Key Responsibilities Provide electrical engineering support to maintenance and operations across the mine. Troubleshoot and support power distribution, switchgear, motors, controls and instrumentation systems . Conduct engineering analyses, load calculations and operational duty-cycle assessments. Specify electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, motors and cabling for current requirements and future expansion. Maintain and update one-line drawings, electrical prints and technical documentation . Manage and maintain the site's ETAP electrical model . Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable NEC requirements, safety standards and site standards . Identify equipment failure root causes and work with maintenance engineering teams to implement permanent corrective solutions. Manage external engineering design consultants and provide technical input throughout capital projects. Support the tendering and award of engineering design work. Provide design input to ensure projects meet operational, permitting and construction requirements. Monitor engineering schedules to ensure alignment with construction requirements. Provide technical oversight throughout construction and commissioning of electrical projects and systems . Support equipment procurement and contractor management. Assist with scope development, change control, document control and project administration. Work closely with civil, mechanical and project engineering teams to integrate engineering, design and construction activities. Develop and maintain electrical engineering standards, procedures and SOPs. Drive reliability-focused engineering strategies across the operation. Ensure projects and engineering activities meet the site's safety, environmental, operational and performance objectives. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will be an electrical engineer or experienced electrical professional who is comfortable working in an operational industrial environment.

You should have:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline , with approximately 2-3 years' relevant experience; or Relevant trade/journeyman qualification with approximately 3-5 years' relevant engineering/industrial experience. Experience with industrial electrical systems, power distribution and electrical equipment . Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability. Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) . Proficiency with AutoCAD . Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Understanding of electrical codes, standards and safe working practices. The ability to work effectively with maintenance, operations, technicians, contractors and engineering consultants. Mining Experience Mining experience is highly desirable, particularly exposure to: Underground mining Mineral processing / concentrator operations Surface mining infrastructure High-voltage and industrial power distribution Electrical maintenance and reliability Capital projects and plant upgrades Candidates coming from other heavy industrial, processing, manufacturing, power generation or similarly complex environments may also be considered where they can demonstrate strong transferable electrical engineering experience.
