Job Description
Electrical Engineer
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electrical schematics, panel layouts and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD and SolidWorks as required.
Create, modify and document PLC and HMI code (AllenBradley, Siemens and other platforms) to meet machine control requirements.
Specify, select and integrate VFDs, servo drives and motion control components for automated systems.
Perform commissioning, start-up and testing of electrical and control systems at the facility and, occasionally, at supplier sites.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control issues on production equipment, using test instruments and diagnostic tools to restore operations quickly.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers, fabricators and production teams to ensure designs are buildable, safe and meet functional requirements.
Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), wiring lists, control narratives, and asbuilt documentation.
Lead rootcause analysis and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
Ensure electrical designs and work practices comply with applicable codes, safety standards and company procedures (NEC, lockout/tagout, etc.).Support procurement and vendor coordination for electrical components, drives and control hardware.
Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations staff to improve troubleshooting capability and equipment uptime.
Participate in project planning, cost estimation and timeline tracking to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent technical diploma with relevant experience.03 years of handson experience in industrial electrical design, automation or controls work (Engineer I level); internship or coop experience considered.
Proficient with AutoCAD and familiarity with SolidWorks for interpreting mechanical layouts and panel designs.
Experience with PLCs and HMIs, specifically AllenBradley (Rockwell) and/or Siemens platforms; ability to read and modify ladder logic and structured text.
Practical experience with VFDs, servo drives and motion control system integration.
Strong troubleshooting and repair skills with multimeters, oscilloscopes and other test equipment.
Knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards (NEC, NFPA, lockout/tagout) and safe work practices.
Excellent problem solving, verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate across functions.
Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and produce clear documentation.
Willingness to work the 1st shift (7:00 AM 3:00 PM) and occasionally support overtime or offshift commissioning activities.
Valid drivers license and the ability to travel occasionally to vendors or customer sites (if required).
