Job Description
Summary :
EllisLudell is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to develop our electrical and controls function across industrial equipment systems. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for designing, troubleshooting, and improving electrical systems while guiding technicians and supporting production. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, solving real-world problems, and leading by example—not just from behind a desk. Primary Job Responsibilities Electrical & Controls Engineering- Design, develop, and support electrical control systems for industrial equipment
- Create and review schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
- Work with PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), HMIs, VFDs, and instrumentation
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues on the shop floor and in the field
- Support commissioning, startup, and system validation Manufacturing & Shop Floor Support
- Spend time on the shop floor diagnosing issues and supporting builds (~20-30%)
- Partner with production to resolve electrical issues impacting delivery timelines
- Ensure consistency and quality in panel builds and wiring standards Leadership & Team Development
- Provide guidance and oversight to panel builders, technicians, and junior engineers
- Review work for accuracy, quality, and adherence to standards
- Establish and improve electrical standards, documentation, and processes Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions
- Improve system reliability, reduce warranty issues, and enhance performance
- Support new product development and engineering initiatives Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with: o PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred) o Control panels and wiring o Industrial electrical systems
- Experience in manufacturing, OEM equipment, or automation environments
- Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical schematics and diagrams
- Proven experience troubleshooting electrical and controls systems
- Comfortable working both in the office and on the shop floor Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with UL standards and industrial electrical codes
- Prior experience leading or mentoring technicians or engineers
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools What Success Looks Like Within 6-12 months, this person will:
- Improve consistency and quality in panel builds
- Reduce troubleshooting time and recurring issues
- Provide strong guidance and leadership to the electrical function
