Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO, Holiday Pay, Life Insurance, and more Sterling Engineering is partnering with a leading manufacturer of custom industrial equipment to hire a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer. This role is ideal for a strong electrical/controls engineer who enjoys being deeply involved in machine design, PLC programming, and troubleshooting, while also leading and developing a small but growing team. This is a player/coach position where you will drive new product development, improve existing equipment, and serve as the go-to technical expert for complex electrical and controls challenges.Key Responsibilities :
Lead electrical engineering efforts across new product development (R D) and continuous improvement initiatives Design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs (ladder logic), with a strong focus on Allen-Bradley systems Develop and modify electrical schematics, controls architecture, and machine functionality Support machine builds, testing, and validation, including hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems Provide advanced technical support to field service teams and assist with complex equipment issues Train and mentor service technicians on electrical systems, controls, and diagnostics Manage and develop a team of 2 direct reports, with expected team growth Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and service teams to improve equipment performance Support concept development by evaluating new designs, competitor equipment, and vendor solutions Utilize ERP systems to support engineering workflows and project tracking Travel up to 50% to support field service, training, and equipment commissioningQualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience) Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming (ladder logic) and Allen-Bradley controls (required) Experience working with custom machinery, automation systems, or industrial equipment Proficiency with VFDs, servo systems, HMIs (PanelView Plus preferred), and electrical troubleshooting Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering or technical teams Experience supporting R D, machine design, and equipment improvements Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment Willingness to travel and support field operations as needed Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.Similar remote jobs
