Job Description
Role Overview We are looking for a Lead Electrical Design & Controls Engineer to take ownership of custom automation projects from initial concept through customer startup. Working within a project-based organization, you will be the driving technical force behind our automated systems. You will lead electrical design, controls architecture, and system integration, while also building key supplier relationships and supporting our sales team. If you have a strong background in building full electrical packages, expert-level PLC programming, and have successfully taken complex systems all the way to the customer floor—this role is for you. What You'll Do System Architecture & Electrical Design
- Own full system architecture including power, I/O, safety, and network requirements based on customer specifications.
- Lead conceptual and detailed electrical design using EPLAN Electric P8, creating complete drawings and documentation for production and customers.
- Ensure all designs and equipment comply with applicable standards (NFPA 79, UL, CE marking, NEC). Software Development & Integration
- Program and integrate controls software using Siemens TIA Portal (primary), WinCC flexible, and Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 / RSLogix.
- Integrate industrial robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA) and vision systems into fully automated machine cells.
- Stay informed on the newest developments in controls to continuously improve EWAB products. Project Execution & Commissioning
- Lead the startup, debug, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of systems on the EWAB floor.
- Drive on-site installation, customer commissioning, and production support on the customer's floor (Travel varies by project).
- Communicate directly with customers regarding project progress and technical milestones. Leadership & Supply Chain
- Negotiate pricing and service with outside suppliers, purchase controls components, and track deliveries.
- Perform design reviews/verification of coworker designs and conduct receiving quality checks on electrical cabinets.
- Train and mentor Build Engineers in basic controls, system startup/debug, and operating EWAB systems.
- Support Business Engineering and Sales during the proposal stage regarding controls concepts and pricing.
- Participate in and follow all required areas of the ISO quality system. How do gems What We're Looking For Experience & Education
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent proven experience in the field.
- Strong background in electrical design for industrial automation (must have experience building full electrical packages, not just modifying existing drawings).
- Hands-on experience managing project budgets and customer specs from start to finish. Core Technical Skills
- Expert proficiency in PLC/HMI programming (Siemens TIA Portal & Allen-Bradley Studio 5000).
- Deep knowledge of network protocols (Profinet, Profibus, TCP/IP, Modbus) and industrial robot programming protocols.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Automotive experience and familiarity with Global Standards (Ford, GM, Stellantis) is a significant advantage. Additional Requirements

- Strong planning, time management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Clean driving license and no travel restrictions.
Pay:
$80,662.13 - $135,000.00 per yearBenefits:
