Job Description
Senior Electrical Technician - Remount Medix Specialty Vehicles | Elkhart, IN The story of Medix began in January 2001 in Elkhart, Indiana. We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Technician to join our Remount team. This is an advanced technical role focused on vehicle electrical diagnostics, multiplex programming, OEM interface, and technical leadership—not traditional harness building or production wire routing. Position Summary The Senior Electrical Technician supports the electrical integration, diagnostics, programming, troubleshooting, and final inspection of ambulance remounts and specialty vehicles. This role requires day-one capability with VMUX or PRAN programming and diagnostics, specialty-vehicle electrical integration, and chassis OEM interface. The successful candidate will independently solve complex electrical problems while serving as a technical resource to the Remount electrical team. Responsibilities
- Perform electrical Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and diagnose, repair, and modify 12V DC and 110V AC vehicle electrical systems.
- Program and configure VMUX or PRAN systems to control required vehicle functions.
- Perform computer-based VMUX or PRAN diagnostics to identify and resolve system, programming, and communication issues.
- Read electrical schematics and independently diagnose complex circuits, components, and system failures.
- Evaluate and integrate existing electrical systems during the ambulance remount process.
- Work directly with Pulse specialty-vehicle OEMs on electrical system layout, integration, and remount strategy.
- Work directly with chassis OEMs to troubleshoot and resolve electrical interface and integration issues.
- Provide technical input for electrical labor estimates and option pricing.
- Mentor and provide technical support to other members of the electrical team. Qualifications Day-One Required Experience
- Hands-on experience programming and configuring VMUX or PRAN systems to operate vehicle functions.
- Hands-on experience performing computer-based VMUX or PRAN diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Experience working directly with specialty-vehicle OEMs on electrical layout, integration, upfit, remount, or comparable vehicle strategy.
- Experience working directly with chassis OEMs to troubleshoot and resolve electrical interface and integration issues.
- Advanced experience diagnosing and troubleshooting automotive, specialty-vehicle, or mobile-equipment electrical systems.
- Strong working knowledge of 12V DC and 110V AC electrical systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and independently troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
- Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills. Preferred
- Experience with ambulances, emergency vehicles, fire apparatus, RVs, trucks, buses, automotive upfitting, or other specialty vehicles.
