Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Building Engineer to lead and support facility expansion, renovation, infrastructure, and utility improvement projects within a manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in partnering with Manufacturing Engineering, Environmental, Maintenance, Energy Management, and external contractors to ensure facility projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, technical expertise in building systems and construction activities, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives. What You'll Be Doing as a Building Engineer As a Building Engineer, you will oversee building and facility-related projects from planning through completion while ensuring compliance, safety, and operational efficiency. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support facility growth, infrastructure improvements, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
Key activities include:
Managing building modifications, renovations, and expansion projects. Developing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and cost estimates. Coordinating with contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors. Supporting energy reduction and utility optimization programs. Assisting with environmental compliance and wastewater management initiatives. Responsibilities of the Building Engineer Include Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering teams to identify and support facility modification and expansion requirements. Manage capital improvement and construction projects from concept through completion. Review drawings, specifications, and cost proposals to ensure project requirements are met. Issue purchase orders and maintain project-related documentation. Create and manage project schedules, budgets, change orders, and punch lists. Coordinate with city, county, and state agencies to obtain permits, inspections, and occupancy certifications. Ensure contractor compliance with site safety requirements and company standards. Manage vendor relationships and oversee contractor performance throughout project execution. Coordinate building service agreements and preventative maintenance programs with maintenance teams. Support the operation and continuous improvement of wastewater treatment facilities. Partner with Environmental teams to assess the impact of facility changes on environmental permits and compliance requirements. Work with Energy Management personnel to identify and implement energy-saving opportunities. Participate in Kaizen, Lean, and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Construction Management, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Strong project management and organizational skills. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Preferred Attributes Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Five (5) or more years of experience in facility engineering, building construction, manufacturing engineering, or project management. Experience managing building construction, renovation, or expansion projects in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of wastewater treatment systems, environmental compliance, and utility management. Experience working with permitting agencies and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with Arc Flash studies, electrical safety programs, and facility infrastructure systems. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies. Pay:
$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
