Energy/Utilities Industry We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to support a transmission substation Single Line Diagram (SLD) initiative. The primary responsibility of this role is to review and verify Single Line Diagrams for transmission substations and make sure the drawings accurately represent the electrical equipment, connections, and overall configuration of the substation. The engineer will compare SLDs with other engineering drawings, equipment records, operational information, project documents, and field information to identify any differences or incorrect information. The engineer will then document the findings and work with engineering, operations, designers, and other teams to make sure the necessary corrections are completed. Key Responsibilities Review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for transmission substations and verify their electrical accuracy. Compare SLDs with three-line diagrams, Protection & Controls drawings, equipment records, engineering drawings, project documents, EMS information, and field markups. Verify that major substation equipment and electrical connections are shown correctly. Review equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, buses, transmission lines, instrument transformers, and station-service equipment. Confirm that voltage levels, equipment numbers, circuit names, device designations, and electrical connections are accurate. Review the drawing to ensure that the physical arrangement of major equipment is reasonably represented while maintaining drawing clarity and readability. Identify and document discrepancies or conflicts between different engineering and equipment records. Prepare clear review comments and communicate required corrections to engineers, designers, and drafters. Coordinate with Substation Engineering, Protection & Controls, Operations, Planning, Work Management, and Construction & Maintenance teams. Track drawings through the review, correction, approval, and final document-control process. Support field verification when existing records are not sufficient to confirm the actual substation configuration. Maintain accurate review records, discrepancy logs, drawing status, and supporting documentation. Follow applicable company standards for SLD layout, symbols, equipment identification, nomenclature, and document presentation. Support process improvements related to SLD quality, engineering reviews, source-data accuracy, and backlog completion. Follow all applicable safety, security, document-control, and
NERC CIP
requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Experience with electrical engineering drawings and documentation. Experience in transmission, substation, power systems, or electric utility engineering. Ability to read and understand Single Line Diagrams / One-Line Diagrams. Understanding of substation equipment and electrical connectivity. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in technical information. Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to work with multiple engineering and operational teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience reviewing transmission or substation SLDs. Experience with Protection & Controls drawings. Experience working with electric utilities or transmission projects. Experience comparing drawings with equipment records or field information. Experience supporting field verification activities. Familiarity with utility engineering standards and document-control processes. Knowledge of
NERC CIP
requirements is a plus.
