Job Title:
Project Field Engineer (Electrical Focus)
Location:
Bollinger Louisiana Shipyards Position Overview:
The Project Field Engineers responsibilities include troubleshooting issues and problems with systems, equipment, etc. within marine vessel construction. Also, inspects the installation of equipment and new technologies, supports on-site production crews, conducts research, monitors and reports on project status.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that everything works and is installed properly and engineering designs are being followed in accordance with engineering principles, company standards, customer furnished specifications and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Identifies and reports on construction or machinery problems, including gaps in engineering design.
  • Communicates with Production personnel to determine engineering needs and explains complex issues.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in design development of marine projects such as tugs, barges, offshore supply vessels and small crafts.
ALTERNATIVELY
Must be willing to work, physically located on-site, for training with our functional engineering team primarily in Lockport, LA for approximately 2 years while attending vessels in the field to gain field engineering qualifications.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be able to support production and testing/installation activities.
  • Must have basic computer skills using Microsoft applications (i.e., MS Excel, MS Word) in addition to having complete familiarity with USCG (CFR) and IMO statutory regulations (SOLAS, IBC) as well as classification requirements (ABS or DNV).
  • Working knowledge of project management and change management principles are a plus.
  • Must be well versed in the technical aspects of marine vessel construction including machines, systems, equipment, etc.
