Position Overview:
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future visa sponsorship. Seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Specialist to support electrical construction, commissioning, maintenance, and field activities within power generation, utility, or industrial environments. This position is ideal for an electrical professional who has worked in a power plant, generating station, utility, substation, manufacturing facility, or other heavy industrial environment and is comfortable working directly in the field. Not looking exclusively for a traditional design engineer. Consultants with backgrounds in electrical commissioning, electrical maintenance, field service, construction, testing, inspection, instrumentation and controls, or plant electrical operations are encouraged to apply. Most importantly, looking for someone with strong practical electrical knowledge and field experience. Consultants who have worked in power generation, utility, substation, or industrial environments and possess many, but not necessarily all, of the technical qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Support onsite electrical construction, commissioning, maintenance, and project activities. Monitor electrical installations and construction activities for quality and compliance with project requirements. Review and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, specifications, and other technical documentation. Assist with testing, startup, troubleshooting, and verification of electrical equipment and systems. Identify potential installation, equipment, or quality issues and communicate findings to project, engineering, construction, and maintenance teams. Work closely with contractors, technicians, engineers, construction personnel, maintenance teams, and project management. Support electrical equipment and systems that may include transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, UPS systems, AC and DC power systems, instrumentation, controls, batteries and chargers, and related equipment. Perform basic electrical calculations and field verification as required. Manage multiple priorities and project activities in a fast paced field environment. Work independently with limited day to day direction while keeping appropriate stakeholders informed.
Skills:
Approximately 5 or more years of relevant electrical experience within one or more of the following environments: Power Plants and Power Generation Utility Facilities Substations Industrial Plants Manufacturing Facilities Process Plants Electrical Construction Electrical Commissioning and Startup Plant Electrical Maintenance Electrical Testing and Inspection Consultants do not need to have experience with every type of electrical equipment or system listed in this description. Strong consultants will have experience with several of the following: Transformers Switchgear Motor Control Centers, also known as MCCs. Variable Frequency Drives, also known as VFDs.
Motors AC and DC Power Systems UPS Systems Batteries and Chargers Instrumentation and Controls Analog and Digital Control Systems SCADA or Related Control Systems Electrical Distribution Systems Electrical Testing and Commissioning Electrical Drawings, One Lines, and Schematics Construction Inspection and Installation Verification Preferred Qualifications:
Approximately 5 or more years of relevant electrical, commissioning, maintenance, construction, field service, power generation, or industrial experience. Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline. Strong hands on understanding of electrical equipment and field installations. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, one lines, specifications, and technical documentation. Experience supporting onsite construction, commissioning, maintenance, testing, inspection, or troubleshooting activities. Ability to identify electrical installation or quality issues and work with the appropriate teams to resolve them. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to work independently without detailed daily direction. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related business applications. Experience in power generation or a power plant environment. Experience with Client facilities, hazardous or classified areas, instrumentation and controls, or process plants.
