Job Description
Job Summary An energy generation organization is hiring an Electrical Engineer - Protection & Controls (Relay Focus) to support a generator replacement project at a power generation facility in Wilmington, DE. This role is responsible for developing, configuring, and validating protective relay settings, as well as ensuring system protection schemes are properly designed and implemented for high-voltage applications. The position supports both engineering design and field execution activities, including commissioning and troubleshooting. Responsibilities Develop, review, and implement protective relay settings for power generation and high-voltage systems Perform relay coordination studies to ensure system reliability and protection selectivity Configure and test digital relays (e.g., SEL, GE, ABB or similar) Support protection schemes including line protection, motor protection, generator protection, and ground fault protection for high-voltage systems Conduct short circuit, load flow, and coordination studies using tools such as ETAP, SKM, or Aspen Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protection systems Collaborate with project teams, field technicians, and plant operations Ensure compliance with applicable standards (IEEE, NEC, NERC, etc.) Travel to the project facility within approximately two hours as needed
