An Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and tests products and systems that use or produce electricity, including power generators, electric motors, radar and navigation systems, and communication systems. Works on larger electrical systems rather than small electronic products or devices.
10+ years of electrical engineering experience in power generation, utility, or large industrial facilities. Strong experience with low- and medium-voltage distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, protective relays, and motor controls. Experience supporting power generation assets, including gas turbines, reciprocating engines, and/or steam turbines. Strong knowledge of electrical studies, system protection, troubleshooting, and applicable electrical codes and standards.
Job Summary :
We are seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership for the design, development, and support of electrical systems across power generation and industrial facilities. This position will support new development projects, capital improvements, and existing operations, with responsibility for electrical system design, equipment specifications, technical oversight, troubleshooting, and system reliability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Lead conceptual electrical design and provide technical oversight through detailed engineering and construction. Develop specifications and evaluate transformers, MV switchgear, protective relays, motor controls, and power distribution equipment. Support the design and integration of power generation and backup generation systems. Develop electrical sequences of operation, control logic, and system integration requirements. Review load flow, coordination, arc flash, and reliability studies for accuracy and code compliance. Provide electrical engineering support for capital projects, equipment upgrades, and system modifications. Troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues and lead root cause and corrective action efforts. Provide technical support to plant operations, project teams, contractors, and other facilities as needed.
Job Requirements :
Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems. Experience with protective relaying, switchgear, transformers, feeders, motors, and motor control systems. Working knowledge of electrical system studies, including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash. Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control system problems in operating facilities. Experience working with engineering firms, equipment suppliers, specialty contractors, and plant operations teams. Ability to travel occasionally to project and operating sites. Education /
Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. Minimum 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience within power generation, utility, or large industrial environments. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Previous experience supporting gas turbine, reciprocating engine, steam turbine, or other power generation facilities is strongly preferred.
