Nature of Work Provides professional engineering services to meet client requests/needs and to manage the day-to-day activities of other project team members. Performs routine to complex assignments using existing procedures Completes designs, projects, and programs Provides context on functional policies, as requested Performs a variety of standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, as necessary Creates and design drafts, including plans and specifications Writes instructions and coordinates the purchase of equipment and materials involving projects Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems Researches and analyzes information and uses standard practices to make informed judgments and recommendations Has limited impact on own work team Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines, noting when obstacles may impact outcomes Exchanges information, asks questions, and checks for audience understanding Develops working relationships with various internal parties and may work with external parties, as needed Requests components and supplies for engineering projects, interacting with vendors to obtain price and product information. Key Responsibilities Confer with department representatives to determine and coordinate design criteria for completion of design drawings. Collaborate with other Campus Facility and University stakeholders; understand and apply campus standards for building systems. Develop engineering designs, construction drawings and specifications to renovate existing building systems. Prepare engineering analysis of project including preliminary design, calculation, life-cycle cost and equipment selections for managing engineer's review. Verify existing conditions; collect field information. Perform electrical engineering design, including but not limited to: building power distribution, equipment selection, lighting calculations, fixture selections and layout, fire alarm design, and analysis of existing electrical systems. Prepare code-compliant engineering design drawings using university and industry standards. Prepare technical construction specifications. Exhibit proficiency with Auto Desk AutoCAD software. Review shop drawings and related construction submittals. Perform contract administration tasks [such as field observations, submittal review, prepare responses to questions, supplemental instruction, etc.] Conduct construction observations and punch lists. Advise clients on the project scope, schedule, and budgetary constraints; understand interrelationship between these project components and how they affect project viability. Exhibit understanding and ability to recommend construction/project costs and durations. Exhibit proficiency with building codes, national standards, and guidelines as identified by the University System related to new construction and renovation of facilities. Shift 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications Engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution with the ability to become licensed in the state of Missouri. Must possess a valid driver's license, which will allow legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri.
Anticipated Hiring Range Salary Range:
$65,000 - $80,000 per year
