Full Job Description Purpose:
To design, validate and support reliable embedded electronic control hardware for HVAC products from concept through production.
Responsibilities :
Own the electrical design of embedded hardware for HVAC control products from concept through production. Perform feasibility studies, cost tradeoffs, design calculations, and technical risk assessments to support product concepts and design decisions. Develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for microcontroller-based control systems, including sensor interfaces, power supplies, relay/triac drivers, and communication interfaces. Create electrical schematics, select and qualify components, define PCB layout requirements, and review PCB layouts for functionality, reliability, thermal performance, and EMC performance. Evaluate prototypes and engineering check samples through hardware validation, firmware integration, bench testing, troubleshooting, and design refinement. Develop and execute electrical design verification activities, including performance, environmental, reliability, and agency compliance testing. Participate in design reviews, FMEA activities, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and technical risk mitigation. Work with Firmware, Mechanical Engineering, PCB Layout, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, and Operations to support product validation, pilot builds, production launch, and sustaining engineering. Support existing products through product improvements, component changes, cost reductions, field issue investigations, and production issue resolution. Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline. 5+ years of embedded hardware design experience for production products, including analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design. Experience with schematic design, component selection, PCB layout review, hardware validation, and troubleshooting. Ability to support products from concept through validation, production launch, and sustaining engineering. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with HVAC, appliance, industrial controls, or similar embedded control products. Experience with power supply design, sensor interfaces, relay/triac drivers, communication interfaces, UL/CSA/FCC, FMEA, reliability testing, or component qualification. Experience with cost reduction, product improvement, field/production issue resolution, mentoring, or technical leadership.
