Job Title:
Electrical Engineer Job Description We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer who will play a pivotal role in the design and development of electrical systems and components. This includes prefabricated control and switchgear buildings, UL 891 switchboards, metal-clad medium voltage switchgear, UL 1008 transfer switches, UL 414 metering enclosures, UL 508A control panels, and other related products. The position demands a robust technical experience in power distribution systems, a thorough understanding of UL and NEC standards, and the capability to manage projects from concept through production release. The ideal candidate will also serve as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and driving engineering excellence across multiple product lines. Responsibilities Lead electrical system design from concept through release, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements. Develop electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD. Select and specify electrical components; manage BOM accuracy and release to operations. Coordinate with suppliers, internal engineering teams, and sales to support design requirements and resolve technical issues. Optimize designs for efficiency, reliability, cost, and market competitiveness. Manage multiple projects while ensuring quality, safety, and performance standards. Support customers with start-up, troubleshooting, and warranty technical support. Conduct design reviews, prototype testing, and validation with test teams. Maintain complete design documentation, version control, and as-built updates. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. 5 plus years of experience in electrical design for low- or medium-voltage power distribution and control systems. In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, components, and applicable industry standards (UL, NEC, IEC, etc.). Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards. Proficiency in developing 2D and 3D electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical. Experience managing engineering projects. Strong ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and customer requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with additional design software (e.g., Revit, Inventor) is preferred. Prior experience in electrical project management. Work Environment The position is based in a new facility with a modern open concept office environment. The company has a long-standing history in electrical equipment manufacturing, specializing in custom power distribution and control equipment. The vertically integrated model allows for custom-built equipment to customer specifications without relying on multiple vendors. With a team of around 100 employees, the company is looking to expand its engineering team further. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
