An Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and tests products and systems that use or produce electricity, including power generators, electric motors, radar and navigation systems, and communication systems. Works on larger electrical systems rather than small electronic products or devices.
Design electrical control systems using AutoCAD Electrical. Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams. Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) and engineering documentation. Select electrical components including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, relays, and control devices. Ensure designs comply with NEC, UL508A, NFPA, and customer specifications. Coordinate with mechanical engineering, controls engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing throughout project execution. Support panel fabrication, machine assembly, startup, and troubleshooting as needed. Revise electrical drawings based on engineering changes and customer requirements. Maintain accurate project documentation and drawing revisions.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Design, or a related technical field. 3+ years of electrical design experience in an industrial manufacturing or machine-building environment. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (required). Experience designing industrial control panels and electrical systems. Working knowledge of PLC-based control systems and industrial automation. Familiarity with
NEC, UL508A, NFPA
70, and electrical drafting standards. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing custom machinery or automated equipment. Knowledge of Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC hardware. Experience with ERP systems and engineering document control. Understanding of industrial machine safety standards and electrical control panel design.
