We're seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, integrate, and commission industrial automation systems for custom manufacturing equipment. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work across electrical controls, PLC and HMI programming, robotics, machine safety, and equipment commissioning from concept through installation. You'll work closely with engineering, manufacturing, customers, and suppliers to turn technical requirements into reliable automation solutions.

Controls Engineer Requirements & Qualifications:
3+ years of controls engineering or industrial automation experience Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems Experience designing or modifying industrial electrical control systems Ability to read, develop, and troubleshoot electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Experience commissioning, troubleshooting, and debugging automated equipment Working knowledge of industrial electrical components, controls, sensors, and machine safety systems Ability to collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customers throughout equipment builds and installations Ability to develop controls solutions for custom equipment rather than solely maintaining existing production machinery
Controls Engineer Preferred Background & Skills:
AutoCAD Electrical experience Robotic programming or integration experience Experience with Allen-Bradley or other industrial PLC platforms Servo, motion control, or VFD experience Industrial networking and communication protocol experience Experience with machine safety systems and applicable electrical standards Background working with custom automation, machine builders, system integrators, or engineered-to-order equipment Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills Experience supporting equipment installation and startup at customer facilities This position is 100% onsite in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area and is not available for remote work.
