$100-130k DOEPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Design Engineer to develop and validate electrical and power-electronic systems for industrial wastewater applications. The role focuses on schematic capture, power electronics, transformer design, motor drive systems, and producing detailed electrical documentation and test plans to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable equipment. The ideal candidate will bridge hands-on circuit design and system-level modeling using tools such as Matlab/Simulink and electrical CAD packages to deliver robust solutions that meet UL and NEC standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesTranslate product requirements into detailed electrical schematics and circuit designs using schematic capture tools.
Design power electronic systems including converters, motor drives, and transformer specifications for wastewater equipment.
Develop and validate motor drive control strategies using Matlab and Simulink models and support hardware-in-the-loop testing.
Create detailed wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and electrical bills of materials using AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or EPLAN.Ensure designs comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards (UL, NEC) and coordinate certification efforts with third-party labs.
Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and firmware teams to integrate electrical systems into complete products.
Document design decisions, maintain engineering change records, and provide technical support to manufacturing and service teams.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.2+ years of experience in electrical or power electronics design; experience in wastewater or industrial equipment strongly preferred.
Proven experience with schematic capture and circuit design tools.
Hands-on experience with power electronics, transformer selection/design, and motor drive design.
Proficiency with Matlab and Simulink for modeling and control development.
Experience with electrical CAD packages such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or EPLAN and creating wiring diagrams.
Working knowledge of UL standards, NEC, and other applicable electrical safety codes.
