Electrical Engineer - MEP Engineering We are seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join our MEP Engineering Division in Washington, DC . This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, including laboratories, hospitals, commercial buildings, institutional facilities, educational buildings, and transportation facilities . The ideal candidate will have an electrical background gained through the electrical, architectural/engineering, or construction industry and hands-on experience with building electrical systems. A strong understanding of electrical design, Revit, and SKM Power Tools is essential. Responsibilities Design electrical systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects Develop systems involving: Controls Switchgear Lighting Power distribution Emergency power Low-voltage and specialty systems Prepare CAD and Revit drawings Perform electrical system design calculations Conduct equipment sizing and selection Develop technical specifications, design reports, and design narratives Design and select luminaires and lighting control systems Develop performance specifications and layouts for fire alarm and other low-voltage systems Perform engineering calculations and equipment sizing for low-, medium-, and high-voltage systems Survey and evaluate existing electrical conditions Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and other disciplines Participate in multidisciplinary project teams to develop drawings and specifications for architects, contractors, and building owners Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes Communicate directly with clients to establish project needs and resolve design issues Incorporate sustainable design strategies, including LEED principles , when applicable Support construction administration activities Perform field inspections and prepare inspection reports Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and assist with construction-related design issues Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred, but not required. 2+ years of experience in the facilities design, electrical design, AEC, or related industry Electrical background through the electrical, architectural/engineering, or construction industry Proficiency with Revit Hands-on experience with SKM Power Tools Experience performing: Short circuit studies Coordination studies Arc flash hazard analysis Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team Excellent planning and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Interest in sustainable building design Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred, but not required Candidates with relevant hands-on electrical, engineering, construction, or facilities design experience are encouraged to apply.
