Electrical Engineer Overview:
This person works individually on project assignments by evaluating, selecting, and applying standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. They will work on both small and large multi-disciplinary engineering teams, focusing on the integration of their assigned design elements into the company's industry-leading dental equipment.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, maintains, and applies technical knowledge and techniques to engineering problems. Ensures the value of engineering solutions for products through creative design and by applying up-to-date design solutions, techniques, approaches, methods, and technology. Drives progress against objectives and through timely completion of assigned work. Ensures the accomplishment of these objectives through effective communication and teamwork. Develops value-added engineering solutions by creating component drawings and specifications, PCB design schematics and layouts, simulation models, and mockups/prototypes; facilitates the evaluation of design solutions by management, technical groups, manufacturing, marketing, and end-users. Ensures reliable and robust design solutions by conducting and/or participating in design analysis and testing, including participation in and interpretation of regulatory compliance testing such as electromagnetic compatibility and ESD. Ensures adherence to medical device standards. Creates and maintains proper documentation and design files per internal processes. Ensures up-to-date project records that meet both internal and external requirements and regulations. Ensures efficient and effective design activity by directing the work of technicians and others, and by working with development and technical support groups on projects. Maintains knowledge of market and competitor products. Studies competitive product and customer practices and identifies customer needs. Contributes to the advancement of product designs and awareness of recent innovations by continuing education, reading, participating in engineering organizations, and by developing and maintaining a professional network outside the company. Contributes to an environment of self-sustaining, continuous improvement consistent with corporate objectives by participating in activities designed to improve throughput times and reducing waste in a manner that is measurable and provides value to the product and/or service that is delivered. Collaborates across cross-functional teams to understand design constraints and develops viable solutions. Demonstrates teamwork ability while working with mechanical, clinical, software, and manufacturing engineers, product managers, industrial designers, and other product stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effectively communicate in oral, written, and illustration form. Basic project management skills; able to manage time and resources effectively. Able to provide engineering solutions to typical engineering problems. Capable of applying and fully using standard electrical engineering principles, concepts, and techniques. Working knowledge regarding basic electronics design elements, such as DC-DC converters, embedded microcontrollers, and standard peripheral circuits and components. Working knowledge of Altium Designer or similar PCB design software including areas of both schematic capture and PCB layout. Working knowledge of CAN Bus, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, WiFi, and BT interfaces. Familiarity with using electrical simulation software such as LTSpice. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Typically has five (5) years of progressive experience in application of engineering theory and practice. Experience with PCB design process from concept through manufacturing transfer, including Design-For-Manufacturability analysis. Direct experience with PCB design and component specification processes. Experience designing to EMI/EMC standards such as FCC and CISPR. Experience working independently with moderate supervision as well as in a team environment. Experience directing the work of designers and technicians. Experience working with mechanical CAD tools, such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
Pay:
$180,000.00 - $240,000.00 per year
