Job Summary:
Axis has an immediate opening for a Senior Electrical Engineer to help power the built environment from concept through construction. Based in our Roswell, Georgia headquarters, this role is designed for a seasoned professional who can turn complex project requirements into elegant, safe, code-compliant electrical systems that keep buildings moving, operating, and inspiring. As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will serve as a technical lead for building-focused electrical design, guiding power distribution, lighting, emergency power, low-voltage, fire alarm, and technology infrastructure systems across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will lead design decisions, mentor developing engineers and designers, coordinate across disciplines, and help clients make confident decisions from early planning through construction completion.
Typical Responsibilities:
In this role, you will bring both technical depth and creative problem-solving to the table, leading electrical design with clarity, collaboration, and a strong commitment to quality. Lead the design of complex electrical systems for commercial, institutional, mixed-use, civic, and infrastructure-related facilities Develop power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, emergency and standby power, grounding, low-voltage, communication, and fire alarm systems Prepare and oversee construction documents, specifications, calculations, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and system narratives using Revit, AutoCAD, and related design tools Perform and review load calculations, short-circuit studies, overcurrent protective device coordination, arc flash studies, voltage drop calculations, and lighting calculations Coordinate closely with architects, owners, contractors, civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and technology teams to deliver integrated, constructible designs Serve as electrical lead on projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, staffing, deliverables, and technical quality from kickoff through construction administration Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, perform site visits, support field coordination, and help resolve construction-phase challenges with practical, client-centered solutions Apply current electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code, applicable NFPA standards, energy codes, accessibility requirements, and local jurisdictional requirements Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and designers, strengthening technical judgment, documentation standards, and quality control practices across the electrical team Support client engagement, proposal development, interviews, and long-term relationship building as a trusted technical advisor
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably in consulting engineering or building systems design Active Professional Engineer license in Georgia required, with willingness to pursue licensure in additional states Demonstrated experience leading electrical design for power distribution, lighting, emergency power, low-voltage, and fire alarm systems Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, applicable NFPA standards, energy codes, and building-focused electrical design practices Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD; experience with electrical analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar platforms preferred Ability to lead project teams, coordinate across disciplines, and communicate clearly with clients, owners, contractors, and internal stakeholders Excellent written and verbal communication skills for proposals, reports, correspondence, meeting participation, and technical documentation Strong problem-solving ability, sound engineering judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to self-directed quality control Highly organized and able to balance multiple deadlines, shifting priorities, and fast-moving project demands with professionalism and follow-through
Desired Skills:
