Job Description
KEMET Electronics Corporation We at KEMET, a YAGEO Group company, help make a wide variety of products possible in the world's most rapidly expanding industries. Founded in 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio, with over 100 years of technological innovation, we manufacture capacitors and other components for computing, telecommunications, medical, aerospace, defense, and automotive markets. Our components are found in spacecrafts and defibrillators - from outer space to inside our bodies, and in products we use every day. We have the broadest selection of capacitor technologies in the industry, including an expanding range of electromechanical devices and electromagnetic compatibility solutions. Job Summary YAGEO Group is seeking a junior or senior level Electrical Test and Reliability Engineer at our Simpsonville, SC facility. This is an onsite role. A qualified candidate should be driven to understand how components, circuits, and systems operate and be motivated to improve their performance, speed, and reliability. Experience with reliability modeling, lifetime prediction, and failure analysis of passive electronic components is highly desirable. Experience with instrument programming and integration, circuit simulation and PCB design, or Finite Element Analysis is a plus. Candidates who pursue hobbies that involve designing, building, operating, and/or repairing electric/electronic/mechanical circuits/equipment are encouraged to declare these interests. Key Responsibilities Develop and apply reliability models for capacitors, including lifetime prediction and failure analysis, to assess performance and reliability under various operating and environmental conditions. Perform pre-defined electrical testing of capacitors in support of R D projects and customer applications. Communicate any perceived opportunities to improve the organization/execution of the test protocol or the test instrumentation. Accurately and clearly report the test results. Lab personnel will assist with initial orientation/training, but rapid learning is expected. Assemble laboratory instruments (power supplies, signal sources, meters/analyzers, etc.) to perform ad-hoc experiments per defined specifications. Write software routines to automate test sequences and record resulting data if required. Engineer an official test system to perform this testing if this it becomes necessary. Perform circuit modeling with LTspice or similar computer modeling tools. Experience with Ansys Electronics Desktop (HFSS) for capacitor ESL extraction and Ansys Mechanical for thermal modeling is a plus. Design/fabrication/assembly of test systems. Hands-on experience with hand tools and light-duty fabrication equipment is a plus. Soldering skills are a plus. Knowledge/experience with using software for circuit board layout/fabrication and creation of schematic diagrams a plus. Assist with acquisition of laboratory supplies as required. Assist with basic laboratory housekeeping as required. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Attention to detail Demonstrated expertise in developing, validating, and applying physics-based reliability models for capacitors, including lifetime prediction, degradation modeling, failure-mechanism analysis, and evaluation of electrical, thermal, and environmental stress effects. Demonstrated ability to perform measurements and experiments, and endeavors to identify and control as many variables as possible or practical to optimize data integrity. Demonstrated ability to carefully report experimental results with the desire to clearly communicate by means of text and graphics. If the test results suggest an opportunity to improve the design/manufacture of the tested samples, appropriate comments are included in the test report. Demonstrated ability to work well with a cross-functional team. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and listening)
