Job Description

SEnergy is seeking an analytical, self-starter Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Power Generation group. This position will develop and implement controls systems and software to meet operational needs including DCS, PLCs, SCADA, and other control interfaces. This position can be based in our Boerne or Houston locations and may require overnight travel to job sites.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, implement, maintain, improve, and document control systems narrative specifications. Leverage an in-depth knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCSs), as well as Safety Instrumented System (SIS) hardware selection, configuration, network architecture design, and software applications. Provide engineering expertise to and participate in Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) reviews. Perform sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, flow elements, thermowells, and other vital instruments. Prepare instrumentation datasheets and maintain an up-to-date instrument list. Prepare estimates of labor, time, and cost requirements for control system projects. Perform technical bid evaluations for instrumentation and associated equipment. Work closely with vendors to support vendor-submitted data for technical reviews and production. Oversee and coordinate with designers and drafters on assigned projects. Participate in and support design and/or coordination reviews with clients and other project team members. Leverage engineering expertise to support plant construction, commissioning, and start-up projects. Champion and support professional development through mentoring and training team members. Oversee assigned project efforts to ensure adherence to budget and schedule. Manage and coordinate change management of project scope and support the review and development of project design standards and best practices.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. 5 years' progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation Experience with industrial instrumentation and control Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCSs) Experience Safety Instrumented System (SIS) hardware selection, configuration, network architecture design, and software applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer License Practical field experience Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD Strong (effective) written and verbal communication skills, Exceptional computer skills, with emphasis in project management, spreadsheet and word processing applications. Strong skills of time management, organizational and multi-tasking.
Physical:
This position requires the ability to listen and hear, good eyesight, sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands and arms.
