This role requires strong experience in electrical design for building systems , the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary construction teams, and proficiency in Revit-based BIM environments . The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution and have 8+ years of relevant electrical design experience supporting mid-sized to large building construction projects. An active Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities Perform electrical system design for commercial and government construction projects including power distribution, lighting systems, and life safety systems. Develop electrical load calculations using spreadsheets and standard engineering software. Prepare and review construction drawings and BIM models using Revit and AutoCAD . Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, and mechanical disciplines in a BIM environment. Conduct independent site surveys to verify field conditions, determine equipment locations and sizes, and document existing systems. Prepare design documents, sketches, specifications, and as-built drawings for the electrical discipline. Respond to permit review comments, landlord review comments, and architectural coordination requests . Participate in construction administration activities , including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and field support. Lead or support design coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors. Perform quality control (QC) of electrical drawings and calculations. Support the training and mentoring of junior engineering or design staff . Maintain strong communication with project managers, construction teams, and clients . Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution . 8+ years of electrical design experience supporting building construction or engineering consulting projects. Strong knowledge of applicable building and electrical codes including: IBC (International Building Code) NEC (National Electrical Code) NFPA standards IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) Demonstrated experience preparing electrical load calculations, panel schedules, and power distribution designs . Ability to interpret existing construction drawings and field conditions . Experience performing site visits and field verification . Strong written and verbal communication skills . Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams . Ability to travel to project sites and perform field inspections , including carrying equipment and working at heights. Experience supporting design-build construction projects . Experience with federal or government construction projects . Employment Requirements Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must successfully complete pre-employment background check and drug screening . Certain projects may require additional federal or site-specific clearances .
