Job Description
Principal Electrical Engineer NSB Omega is searching for a Principal Electrical Engineer for our Oil & Gas Client in Quintana, TX. Assignment Description
- TWIC Not required at submission or initial start. Candidate must be willing and able to obtain one after starting
- Job Summary The Principal Electrical Engineer is a member of the Capital Projects Team (CPT) and reports directly to the CPT Engineering Manager.
- Review and comment on Specifications and Data Sheets
- Review and comment on Detailed Design Deliverables
- Review and comment on Procurement Packages
- Review and comment on Supplier Document Deliverables
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) of Electrical Systems (infrequent domestic and international travel should be expected)
- Participate in Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) of Electrical Systems
- Review and comment on Power System Study reports consisting of Short Circuit Protection, Arc-Flash, Load Flow
- Review and comment on Protection Schemes, Equipment Ratings, and Protection documents
- Review and comment on Hazardous Area Classification documentation
- Provide support to Regulatory Team for electrical issues
- Coordinate SAFOP (eHAZOP) of Electrical System during the design phase
- Manage resolution of SAFOP follow-up activities by EPC and Freeport LNG
- Participate in HAZOPs and HAZIDs as required
- Coordinate engineering and design interfaces between Electrical and other discipline teams in a strong matrix, multi-discipline project team environment.
- Participate in Problem Resolution meetings with EPC
- Review and comment on Change Order Requests by EPC
- Participate in meetings with CenterPoint Energy regarding grid configuration, future changes, and interaction with grid equipment
- Ensure EPC Contractor meets all regulatory requirements in a timely manner
- Ensure Contractor compliance with project schedule for Engineering and Construction.
- Ensure Electrical design, construction, and testing is code compliant.
- Ensure compliance with established site and corporate philosophies, standards, specifications and procedures related to Electrical.
- Review all package unit inquiries and purchase order requisitions where electrical is to be furnished by a Vendor as part of the package unit.
- Review unpriced requisitions and purchase orders of equipment and address any Technical Deviations from Project requirements.
- Participate in any Contractor Engineering Audits for the Electrical Discipline Competencies
- Familiar with ETAP Power System Modeling software and associated reports
- Familiar with Modeling of Power System Harmonics and interaction with utilities
- Familiar with IEEE 519 and design and specification of systems to meet the associated requirements
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills and be able to evaluate and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Ability to effectively collaborate and work with all levels of the organization including operations, technical, plant management, contractors, vendors.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolutions skills
- Ability to work safely, efficiently and effective with minimal guidance and direction.
