Broad Run, VA 20166 (Onsite Monday•Thursday, WFH on Friday)
PAY RANGE
$85.00•$95.00 per hour (FTE Conversion Salary of $185k/year)
DURATION
100% Contract-To-Hire (6 Months to permanent)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
▪ Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. ▪ 7+ years of experience designing complex electronic hardware systems (full scope). ▪ Strong experience with schematic capture, PCB design, and electrical hardware development. ▪ Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence, OrCAD, or equivalent. ▪ Experience with high-speed digital, mixed-signal, and FPGA-based hardware systems. ▪ Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, DFM, and DFT principles. ▪ Experience performing board bring-up, hardware validation, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting. ▪ Ability to review schematics, identify design deficiencies, and implement effective solutions. ▪ Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other laboratory test equipment.
NICE-TO-HAVE
▪ Defense, aerospace, robotics, autonomous systems, satellite communications, wireless communications, or electronic warfare industries. ▪ RF and wireless hardware design experience. ▪ Power electronics and power management systems. ▪ Embedded hardware and sensor integration. ▪ Development of ruggedized, mission-critical, or highly reliable electronic systems.
SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will lead the design, development, integration, and validation of complex electronic hardware systems supporting advanced sensing, communications, and autonomous technology platforms. This individual will play a key role throughout the product lifecycle, from system architecture and schematic design through prototype development, testing, manufacturing, and production release. The ideal candidate combines deep electrical hardware design expertise with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills and can confidently identify, diagnose, and resolve issues at the schematic, PCB, and system levels.
Responsibilities:
▪ Lead the design and development of complex electrical hardware systems from initial architecture through production deployment. ▪ Create, review, and optimize schematics for high-speed digital, mixed-signal, FPGA-based, power, and wireless communication designs. ▪ Support PCB layout activities and ensure designs meet signal integrity, power integrity, manufacturability, reliability, and performance requirements. ▪ Perform board bring-up, integration, debugging, and root-cause analysis of hardware design issues. ▪ Conduct electrical analysis, simulation, and validation activities related to signal integrity, power integrity, thermal performance, and EMI/EMC compliance. ▪ Develop and execute hardware verification, characterization, and validation test plans. ▪ Build, test, and iterate prototype hardware to drive designs toward production readiness. ▪ Collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and product teams. ▪ Evaluate and integrate commercial off-the-shelf and custom-designed hardware components. ▪ Create and maintain engineering documentation including specifications, schematics, test procedures, validation reports, BOMs, and design records.
Compensation:
$85.00/hr•$95.00/hr Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.
