Duties Develop detailed alarm system designs using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and NavisWorks, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications. Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans that meet NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 compliance standards. Utilize building information modeling (BIM) tools to integrate alarm systems seamlessly into overall building designs. Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, construction teams, and project managers to ensure system design feasibility and compliance with electrical building codes. Prepare comprehensive CAD documentation, schematics, and system layouts for installation and inspection purposes. Incorporate advanced 3D modeling software such as Creo for complex system visualization and layout design. Conduct electrical drafting for alarm systems including wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and integration with programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Review project specifications to select appropriate components such as sensors, detectors, control panels, and wiring materials aligned with industry standards. Ensure all designs incorporate best practices for electrical wiring, system reliability, safety standards, and construction requirements. Support construction teams during installation by providing technical guidance on electrical wiring practices and system integration. Experience Proven experience in electrical system design or alarm/security system engineering within construction or industrial environments. Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, NavisWorks, and 3D modeling tools like Creo. Strong knowledge of electrical building codes such as NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 compliance standards related to alarm systems. Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) tools for integrated project design workflows. Experience designing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout documentation for security or alarm systems. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical wiring practices, and integration of electronic components within building systems. Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into detailed CAD drawings while maintaining accuracy. Construction experience preferred to understand on-site installation challenges and coordination needs.
