Job Description

ENTRUST Solutions Group is seeking a Sr. Design Technician to support and lead electric distribution system design projects that power communities. This position is ideal for an experienced technician who enjoys hands-on field work, developing utility design solutions, and mentoring junior team members. What you'll do: Perform field visits to collect data on utility poles and electrical infrastructure, ensuring accuracy for design packages. Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems, preparing construction drawings, bills of materials, and documentation. Provide calculations such as pole loading, voltage drop, easement validation, permitting requirements, and cost estimating. Conduct pole analysis modeling, develop materials lists, perform GIS reviews, and prepare or update design prints. Support pre-construction activities and answer design and site-related questions. Review client records, GIS data, and field information to identify conflicts, verify accuracy, and incorporate updates. Lead junior technicians through data collection, drafting, and utility design standards. Manage multiple projects while meeting quality, schedule, and client expectations. Apply company safety rules, client standards, and regulatory requirements (RUS, NESC, permitting). Collaborate with engineers, designers, and construction crews, participating in walkdowns and coordination meetings. Work independently with strong communication and documentation practices. Here's what you'll need: 2 or more years of experience in a design technician, engineering technician, or utility design role. Foundational experience in utility distribution network design, overhead/underground layouts, pole line design, etc. Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar drafting/design software. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and utility standards. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Client-facing experience and strong communication skills. Willingness to travel for fielding assignments, as needed (mileage reimbursed).
