Job Description

Position Summary The Design Technician supports the engineering team by developing electrical drawings, layouts, and documentation for industrial control panels and electrical systems. This role focuses on translating engineering concepts and project requirements into accurate, production-ready documentation. The Design Technician works closely with the Lead Electrical Engineer, production personnel, and operations to ensure designs are organized, accurate, and ready for manufacturing. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Electrical Design Support
  • Create and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings
  • Assist engineers with the development of control panel and electrical system designs
  • Update drawings based on engineering revisions and production feedback
  • Maintain organized design documentation and drawing files Documentation & Drawing Development
  • Prepare electrical drawing packages including schematics, layouts, and wiring documentation
  • Ensure drawings follow company design standards and documentation practices
  • Maintain proper drawing naming conventions and file structures
  • Support accurate documentation for purchasing and production Production & Shop Support
  • Work closely with production to clarify drawings and resolve build questions
  • Assist with identifying design improvements that support efficient panel assembly
  • Support troubleshooting of design-related issues during assembly and testing Design Review & Project Coordination
  • Assist with internal design reviews and verification processes
  • Support engineering changes and drawing revisions when required
  • Communicate design updates with engineering and operations teams
  • Help ensure projects are completed on schedule and released to production Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical training in electrical design, drafting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and control panel drawings
  • Basic understanding of industrial electrical systems and control components
  • Ability to produce accurate technical documentation Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in industrial automation, electrical controls, or panel manufacturing
  • Familiarity with PLC systems, motor controls, and industrial electrical components
  • Experience with electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar) Key Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Work Environment This position operates in a small engineering and manufacturing environment that includes both office-based design work and collaboration with production personnel on the manufacturing floor.
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
