$80-115k DOEPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop, and commission industrial control systems for automated manufacturing and robotic applications. The role focuses on PLC and HMI programming, robotics integration, electrical control panel design, and onsite commissioning to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of automated equipment. The ideal candidate combines handson field experience with strong systemlevel engineering skills and effective communication with production, mechanical, and project teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, program, and maintain PLC control systems (AllenBradley, ABB and other platforms) to meet project requirements and industry standards.

Develop and implement HMI interfaces (FactoryTalk, PanelView, Ignition or equivalent) for operator control, monitoring, and diagnostics.

Integrate and program industrial robots (Fanuc and other manufacturers) into production lines, including motion coordination and safety interlocks.

Create and validate electrical schematics, control panel layouts, wiring diagrams and bill of materials using CAD/AutoCAD tools.

Perform commissioning, startup, troubleshooting and optimization of automated equipment at vendor sites and customer facilities.

Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software and project management teams to define control system requirements, architecture and schedules.

Write clear technical documentation including functional specifications, test procedures, PLC/HMI code comments, and maintenance manuals.

Implement and verify safety systems, interlocks and risk assessments to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards.

Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel to ensure long-term reliability and knowledge transfer.

Participate in continuous improvement activities, root cause analysis and retrofit projects to enhance performance and reduce downtime.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.3+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation or industrial robotics integration.

Experience with PLC and HMI using Allen Bradley, Rockwell, or Siemens.

Robotics experience using ABB, Fanuc, Kuka, or similar robots including troubleshooting and installations.

Proficiency with CAD/AutoCAD for creating electrical schematics, panel layouts and wiring diagrams.

Strong troubleshooting skills with experience in commissioning and fault diagnosis of automated systems.
