Unlike a standard manufacturing PLC programmer, this role focuses strictly on automated gates, turnstiles, biometric scanners, automated door locks, perimeter intrusion systems, and jail or facility lockdowns with access control.

Key Responsibilities Access Control Logic:

Program logic for automated gates, security interlocks, mantrap systems, and high-security facility lockouts and doors.

Hardware Integration:

Integrate PLCs with card readers, biometric scanners, RFID sensors, and facial recognition cameras.

Emergency Override Safety:

Design fail-safe logic ensuring life safety and fire alarm overrides take precedence over security locks.

System Monitoring:

Configure SCADA, HMI, and alarm management displays for security operations centers (SOC) to monitor real-time access.

Data Logging:

Write code that logs entry/exit attempts, door-forced alarms, and hardware tampering alerts to secure databases.

Network Hardening:

Secure local OT communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, OSDP) against spoofing and physical interception.

Required Qualifications Experience:

2-5 years in industrial automation, with specific field experience commissioning physical security hardware or integrated building management systems (BMS) with PLC integrations into Access Control systems.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in standard PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Function Block) using platforms like Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Omron. Experience with physical security standards, relay wiring, electric strikes, and magnetic locks.

Certifications:
